Kansas City Chiropractor Helps Patients With Stress, Depression and Anxiety Around the Holidays

Are you bummed, down, or just can't get motivated after all of the Christmas and Holiday excitement is passed? You aren't alone. So many people spend the last month of the year in a hurried frenzy of shopping, baking, wrapping gifts, and mailing cards and presents that by the time its all over their body is exhausted.
Lack of sleep combined with eating lots of sweet goodies and not enough protein and water leaves many people feeling cruddy after Christmas!
Here are a few tips that will help you get back on track, and feeling much better in time for New Year's Eve:
1. Get hydrated!!!
Unless you are on a fluid restricted diet, your body needs 2/3 of an ounce of water for every pound of body weight per day. This ensures that your body is getting enough water to run the hundreds of body functions it coordinates in a single day. Trying to figure out how to get rid of brain fog or fatigue? Take the water challenge, and drink your water requirement for 2 weeks. You might be heading to the restroom more frequently at first, but that's because you are like a "dried out old kitchen sponge" and it takes time for your body to start absorbing that water.

Want to kick up your body's ability to absorb water? Come into the office for a treatment of Total Body Modification. There are corrections to reboot your body's water metabolism and water absorption, and minimize the "have to pee all the time" urges.
2. Protein, Protein, Protein!
Look at your ancestry, what did they eat as a protein source? White North American folks from Europe ate red meat, and if you are of Asian Indian descent, it may be lamb. Look at what your ancestors ate, and that is your body's "essential protein". Your body needs at least nine ounces a week of this "essential protein" to get enough methionine to help regulate blood sugar control between your liver and pancreas.
I recommend eating protein at each meal, especially if you are having trouble with brain fog, fatigue, or difficulty losing weight. Other good protein sources are eggs, milk, cheese, and quinoa. Do you have a food intolerance to any of these foods? Total Body Modification can help with that too! We have protocols to help harmonize your body to "allergies" and "intolerances".
3. Sleep!
You need sleep. More than most people think. If you are not getting 7-9 hours of quality sleep, you are most likely sleep deprived. Quality sleep is different from just any sleep. If you need help getting your sleep enviroment optimal, click here for a worksheet that outlines how to improve your sleep hygiene. Tips like: sleep in a dark room, cover all light sources, stop reading computer/tv screens for a period of time before you go to bed, etc. It is a valuable resource that I give to many of my patients.
Trouble settling your mind at night? I help patients all the time with calming down their minds. Acupuncture is a great tool to help bring peace into your mind and spirit. In my office, we use the Acugraph system, which gives me an exact picture of your energy system. It is so fulfilling to see the relaxed look of contentment on a patient's face after an Acupuncture treatment. It brings you down a couple of notches. Some of my patients even tell me they feel relaxed yet refreshed at the same time.
4. Exercise
If you are groaning at the mere mention of the word exercise, then this tip is especially for you. This doesn't have to be running, or a marathon, or 3 hours at the gym. It can be going up and down your stairs and walking back and forth putting toys and clothes away. Just get moving! Movement and exercise help burn off excess sugar without straining your pancreas to produce insulin. After a few minutes of brisk walking around the block your head will be more clear, your mind will be more focused and relaxed, and your body will be detoxing from the holiday overload.
5. Take some time for yourself
Seeing the Chiropractor or Acupuncturist is a form of self-care. You are taking time out of your schedule to take care of YOU! Chiropractic Adjustments reduce the interference or "static" in your nervous system which increases your body's capacity to deal with your daily life. Acupuncture helps balance your body's energy patterns, reducing stress, pain, and anxiety so that you can increase your capacity.
My life purpose as a Healer is centered around you learning to live within your body and increase your capacity. If you are ready to feel better, be more relaxed, and increase your capacity for life, call me right now at 816-842-3603!
