Does your neck hurt? Do you have trouble turning your head without pain that limits you or shoots down your back or arm? Do you have pain in your back that radiates to your legs or hips?
All of those can be signs of a pinched nerve.
What is a pinched nerve?
A pinched nerve is a common term for a nerve that is irritated or compressed, usually caused by a misaligned vertebra or disc irritation.
How can a Chiropractor help that?
Chiropractors are trained in detecting and correcting misalignments of the spine. We are also experts in helping disc problems, and long standing nerve irritation problems. By adjusting the spine it balances the nervous system and takes pressure off of the irritated nerves. This allows the body to return to its maximum functioning state.
I have seen patients heal to 100% improvement with as little as 6 visits. If it is a more severe case, it can take 10 or 12 or more to truly stabilize the spine. It is of minimal benefit to merely get someone out of pain because if the spine is not stabilized, the problem can recur again in a short period of time. By stabilizing the spine and slowly increasing the time between visits, the body maintains the improvement on its own, thus drastically decreasing the chances of a painful recurrence.
A pinched nerve can be extremely painful, and in most cases can't be completely resolved with ice, heat, or medication. It is important to get to the root cause of the pinched nerve and address it. A Chiropractor is an expert in examining and treating patients with pinched nerves, and is a valuable resource to maximize your body's potential!
