Chiropractor in Kansas City Helps Patients with Headaches Including Those From Pinched Nerves

Have you ever had a headache?

I have!

Do you know there can be many different causes of headaches.  As a Chiropractor, you might be thinking I will only tell you that you have a headache because your neck is misaligned...well, it may be...and you may have other contributing factors like:

- Poor Blood Sugar Control/Low Blood Sugar aka Hypoglycemia/Poor Diet

- Dehydration

- Gallbladder problems

- Jaw Tension/TMJ dysfunction

- Stress at home, work, finances, school, etc.

- Vascular sensitivity/Light sensitivity

- Trauma - ex. motor vehicle accident, slip or fall, hitting your head on a shelf, slipping in the tub/shower, wrestling with your kids, sports injuries, limping

- Energy Imbalance in your Acupuncture Meridians (pathways that energy travels through in your body)

- Cranial Bone misalignment

- Sinus Problems

- Shifts in Barometric Pressure or Temperature, especially rapid shifts

- Pinched Nerves (nerve compression)

- and there's more!

Knowing that there can be one OR MORE of these contributing factors to your headaches, a Chiropractor like myself conducts a thorough history and examination to determine the most probable causes of your headaches.  In addition to evaluating your spine for misalignment, I also address any other factors listed above that may need your attention...like your diet and water intake.  Occasionally nutritional supplementation is needed to support your body in healing as well.

How many visits does it take before I feel better from my Headaches or Pinched Nerves?

That is definitely different with each patient, and can vary from 1 visit to 6 or more, but generally if the treatment options I use with patients are going to work for them, there is a noticible difference by visit 4.

Based upon your history and examination, I will make recommendations for your care including frequency of visits, dietary and water intake modifications, stretching, exercise, stress relief, etc.  As you begin to improve, or if you do not respond as quickly as expected, I will always let you know if the recommendations are modified.

I pop my neck and/or someone I know pops by back for me and sometimes it helps.  Is that ok?

NOOOO!  Unless they are a licensed Chiropractor or other Physician that is well-trained and competent in adjusting your body, you can be hurt very easily.  Sometimes you get lucky and the "popping sound" happens and it feels better, but mostly the joints that are stuck require a very precise and accurate force to truly realign the joint.  If you have the urge to "pop" your neck or back frequently your body is trying to tell you it needs to see the Chiropractor.  Please do not let people "pop" your back unless they are trained and Board Certified.

I don't drink much water and I don't eat anything until the afternoon and I wake up with headaches every morning.  Can you help me?

Of course, I cannot truly answer this without a proper history and examination.  However, many of my patients report drastic improvement in their headaches when the combine Chiropractic adjustments, drinking enough water, and eating on a regular basis to balance their blood sugar.  I educate all my patients on the importance of drinking their water and keeping their blood sugar in balance.  Just ask them!

Suffering from headaches or suspect you have a pinched nerve?  Give me a call and let's see if I can make a difference for you.
