Dealing with Infertility? Acupuncture & Chiropractic can make THE difference!

Last week I took took care of a mom who is 38 weeks pregnant. When she left the office after her Chiropractic Adjustment, I had to hold back the tears.

About 44 weeks ago, this woman came into my office looking for solutions. She had tried to get pregnant for several years and nothing had worked. After completing a cycle of fertility medications and thinking she was pregnant, she found out that she had a blighted ovum instead.

We chatted and talked about her fertility history including:

-period frequency and regularity

-clotting during periods

-cramping during periods

-history of pregnancy

-usage of fertility medications

-sleep patterns

-what she eats

-water intake

-usage of birth control

-personal or family history of thyroid issues

All of these different part of her health history can have a big impact on her ability to get pregnant. While many fertility Medical Doctors talk only about medications, sonograms, IUI, and IVF (which is their expertise!), I also discuss other factors that many of those gifted Medical Doctors may not ask about.

There are several well known Reproductive Endocrinologists that refer patients to my office for Acupuncture to increase the patient's chances of a successful pregnancy. They have learned that Acupuncture is a proven treatment that can enhance the benefits of traditional Medical model fertility treatment (Clomid, letrozole, HCG trigger, IUI, IVF, etc.), as well as enhance a woman's fertility if she is on a natural unmedicated cycle.

I truly enjoy and appreciate the team effort that happens when OB/GYNs, Reproductive Endocrinologists and Chiropractors/Acupuncturists work together.

The woman that is about to have her baby came in for weekly Chiropractic, Acupuncture, CranioSacral Therapy, and Total Body Modification treatments and by her sixth weekly visit she had a positive pregnancy test! She continued the treatments weekly until she had made it through part of her first trimester, and then as she felt less nauseated, we continued with Chiropractic Adjustments every two to three weeks throughout her pregnancy.

So why the tears? I was present to the difference I have made in her life in the past year. As a result of the treatments Baker Chiropractic & Acupuncture provides to the community, this woman and her husband are about to welcome their first child into the world.
